@ppfd
Thanks mate for taking the time to tell us about how you feel. I respect the decades of hard work you’ve put in contributing here and helping others @ppfd. You’ve donated much of your valuable time to everyone. I’ve seen you helping others to fix their posts. Making sure duplicate threads are weeded out. Ensuring the threads are posted in the correct category. It’s no easy task.
You’ve always been vocal about what direction this place should take and that’s what I respect. If something wasn’t right, you’d kicked me in the nuts (in front of everyone) and let me know about it! In fact, everyone who’s done that, I’d basically given moderator status’ too. It shows you’re passionate which is rare.
You’ve also have been a role model for most people on past forums, websites and the older bulletin style boards. You’ve contributed a lot for this place and I want to thank you mate. Seriously mean it.
I didn’t get what it meant at the time but I think BXBX when Bellylove was on it’s last legs, he described our roles (admins & moderators) as a “thankless” endeavour.
You’ve been a strong pillar holding Belly, Inc together ole friend’o. It’s through everyone’s efforts including @mods hard work we’ve become the first ever belly forum to hit a 10 year anniversary this month in April. Yep, you’ve made that happen. To date, we’ve got well over 110, 000 member posts - again never been done before in our history. You’ve helped with that too.
I know how devastating it’s been to have our homes, places of worship… or “belly worship” as you might call it, destroyed and we’re left homeless. Then we’re left picking up the pieces. This hasn’t just happened once has it @ppfd? It’s happened several times, too many times. However the beauty of it all was, we all ended up finding each other again.
Running our own servers means we all have to sacrifice something we cherish. And for us, it was sacrificing the traditional belly forum format. Let’s face it, 10 year anniversary this month in April - you can’t argue, we’ve got to be doing something right, surely?
I wish there was more I could do to show you and other @Mods how much I appreciated your efforts in making this place a better home for everyone.
I am not surprised that you’ve brunched off to focus on other great things. I know if you put your mind to something, you will achieve mate, so good luck with it. I whole heartedly wish you the best in your future endeavours.
I want to address some of the points you’ve raised
@ppfd The fact that a whole helluva lot of the content I’ve contributed to the site over the years (as well as many others) has apparently been reduced to non-clickable thumbnails, or, even worse, totally dead links
- The content is still safe and secure and we are working on fixing the issue.
- Fixing the links is straight forward: We only need to replace certain symbols and characters which will restore the clickable thumbnails. However what’s taking longer is that we need 10 different dead links for the same imagehost and 10 different links where the images transferred perfectly fine and comparing results to our old and new forms database.
- I am in the process of compiling that list but it’s time consuming. I am confident it’s fixable.
- I am not going to let anyone’s hard work of contributing here go to waste. What’s the point of having a broken home right?
- Hence why I said, don’t bother replacing the posts, this will be done in due course.
