Why is Imagebam not working for me?

Hi guys - hope you can help me with this issue.

I've tried to look at some images of navel-bearing celebrities, but when I click on the image to open up the imagebam page they've been uploaded on, only to be greeted with the imagebam page that constantly says "loading" but then never shows the picture.

This doesn't happen every time I open an image uploaded to Imagebam, mind you. Sometimes I click on them and they open fine with the image loading within seconds.

Any ideas why this is happening. Also, I use Firefox to access this website and I've tried switching browsers, but it's still not working.

I think some images got screwed up in the time between ImageBam announced it was shutting down and the news that it was being taken over by other powers that be; I know some of mine did... but after relocating and restoring hundreds of pics that were lost when SomeImage shut down, I really don't feel like doing so at this time. Others are welcome to try.

I think it's a good idea to bring this up: why do we keep using imagebam, despite the intrusive ads and very real possibility that it will shut down?

With all due respect, ANY imagehost site could shut down at any given time. We've already lost 2 giants in Imageshack and SomeImage. ImageBam should be good to go for a while now that it's under new ownership. Is it really THAT big of a deal to close the ads that pop up with some images? ::) Imgbox is still my least favorite hosting site; it doesn't include the thumbnail BB codes with the image, nor does it have a horizontal scrolling option once you expand the pic to its full size.

EDIT: Okay, I'm now seeing what you mean. All of a sudden the thumbnails are disappearing (though most pics are still there if you can find the invisible link). I don't know if this is just our site or everywhere. Either way, ImageBam is clearly starting to show its unreliability. These damn sites; they always seem to have SOME sort of issue. >:(

In some cases, it's not so bad as I can use a Firefox addon called "*Search by Image for Google*" to right click an image here on Bellyinc and try to find an alternative source/higher quality version of the image to look at.

Sadly, this doesn't work for all images and images uploaded by Imagebam are often the worst. When I upload images personally to put on Bellyinc, I prefer Imgur any day of the week.

Also note that Imagebam has been under a lot of fire by copyright trolls. So it's plausible to assume that if an image is reported by someone it gets immediately taken down to avoid further violations. We've had to do the same on for our site which is fair enough. Guysome11 raises a valid point, never put your eggs in one basket.

I reeeeeaaallllllly wish we had our own personal image host -- and had it from day 1. Then we could have avoided all this turmoil that's become all too prominent over the last year or so. It's too damn inconvenient to jump from host to host, using multiple ones, never knowing which one will go under next. I wish Imgur hadn't changed their method of making thumbnails/thumbnail links - which I haven't been able to re-figure out since ??? (anyone who's still there want to give me their step-by-step process? Harvey? Star?) - or else I never would've left them.

I think Star said something about signing up to imgur to get BB code links.

I'm surprised we we haven't started using imgur already, it's probably the best image host out there. It's easy to use bbcode to link directly to the full-sized image, no clicking on anything only to be brought to a page that has ads that attempt to convince you that you're computer has a virus or whatever scam they think up of next. And I doubt they will go under any time soon either, it's very successful and has extremely fast servers. Literally every single other forum I've been on uses it for pretty much everything, including huge websites like Reddit.

You don't even need to sign up for it, either. Just upload an image, right click it, and click on "Open image in new tab". Then, copy the url, and paste that url between the bbcode tags.

If people are bulk uploading media, it's simply too much work to do that for every image.

You could always upload multiple images to imgur, then paste a link to the album. The link is off to the right of whatever you uploaded, and will be something like imgur.com/a/something. Just put that between tags and there you go. Just click on the link and you'll be taken to the album. You don't need to make an account for this.

You can make a gallery with an account though, if you want. I just tested it, it's possible.
