I consider the French plantation segment the weakest part of "Apocalypse Now." If I were to make a definitive version of the film, I'd say it'd be the 'Redux' cut minus that and the mostly time-wasting 'private time with the Bunnies' segment (so, yeah, once again there'd be no nudity in the film :-X).

You have a point about the Bunnies but I like the Plantation scene. For one, it reminds us that Vietnam was actually a French colony at one point and gives one last period of levity and semi normalcy before things just go completely down the pit. Plus it also explains what happens to Clean's body.

To me it just seemed awkward to try and shoehorn the politics of the war into what is otherwise a completely apolitical film (that egg metaphor is especially ham-fisted ???). As for Clean's body, one could easily surmise they disposed of it in the river, as they ultimately did with Chief's.
