Just wanted to add, joining 'weekly weighing' groups also help (most of them are free). The reason I went on one is because my work-colleague and I had a 6 month bet over whoever loses the most weight, wins £10 (as we're both incredible lazy men). I noticed it was a great way for me to whoop his butt. Mind you, he was much more active than me and ended up gaining weight because he was building muscle.
Also I was making subtle changes for example, I use to drink a tone of fizzy drinks (crammed full of sugar), I simply switched to zero-sugar. So subtle changes like that also help reduce weight.
