Awful scenes in amazing movies

What are some awful, out of place scenes in movies you love. I'll start with the obvious, the tree rape in The Evil Dead. Unpleasant, uncomfortable, unfunny, unscary and wholly unnecessary as Raimi would later admit.

Ejector seat scene from Die Hard 2 was a cool idea but poorly executed

Bridge scene from Die Hard with a Vengeance was something out of Fast and Furious but with gore

The "Birthday cake" scene from Under Siege, totally obligatory and unnecessary

The scene with Pearl in Blade, just plain gratuitous

The old Chinese couple mistaking Will Smith for a stripper in Enemy of the State, not to mention Gene Hackman's horrific legs at the end

I've always enjoyed the arm scene in Terminator 2, but oh God I hate that scene in Enemy of the State. Great call mate. Bridge scene was quite forgettable in my opinion, I actually had to google it even though I haven't seen that movie in a while. I do disagree about Terminator's eye scene fitting, that scene shows the weaknesses and limitations of the budget and holds up so badly compared to the rest of the movie (and that movie is dated as hell now) but is admittedly a badass concept. The infamous Luke and Leia kiss from "The Empire Strikes Back". Granted, it only becomes awful after the plot twist in "Return of the Jedi". However, it only further proves that Lucas was just making the story up as he was going, and any justification of the scene not being incest comes across as flimsy.

Empire Strikes Back: Leia, who's been established as a badass who can kill without hesitation is frightened by Mynocks, apparently for no other reason than the fact that they're icky and gross

Empire Strikes Back: Han Solo's horrifically overdone screams of agony while being tortured by Vader's "scanning grid," only if you're literally being flayed alive can you get away with screams like that

Return of the Jedi: The droid foot torture scene from Return of the Jedi, apparently trying to be lighthearted but comes across as unsettling

Return of the Jedi: Boba Fett not only turning his back on Han but then getting hit by him in the jetpack almost by accident and we all know happens next

Whilst it establishes and builds the main character, I always found the scene in dog soldiers where the main character fails the training for the elite team to be cruel, cheap looking and a bad set up for the quality of the rest of the film. It's one of my all time favourites and that scene is not great. Also the line "it's that time of the month" is worse than the bloody "try not to choke on your aspirations" from Rogue One.

To this day, I consider that to be one of the funniest deaths in the history of cinema.

Yeah, but there is a lot of dated parts to that movie. Have you seen the deleted scene with Lambert's extended death? Looks like crap even by the standards of '79. Also the finale on the escape pod looks awful, the strength of the unbelievable practical effects in the movie was not totally exposing the xenomorph. Similar to Jaws this hides the limitatons of movement and costume design whilst making the creature more mysterious and imposing, the ending brings it into the light and the limitations of a man in a suit are suddenly very very obvious.

The epic plot hole from Star Trek II:

I suppose I can forgive Chekhov and Khan knowing each other despite having never met, like maybe Chekov was in the background somewhere in Space Seed and we simply weren't shown him. The two could have had just a brief interaction off screen and Khan NEVER forgets a face.

What I CAN'T forgive is the Reliant not being able to detect that the planet they were on was Ceti-Alpha 5 or better yet that the system they were in was mysteriously down one planet. Hell, what were they even doing trying to test Genesis there to begin with?! You'd think that after Space Seed Kirk would send a message to to Starfleet Command saying "hey, there's a genocidal genetically enhanced mad tyrant in exile over here and you might wanna issue a travel advisory to all Federation vessels about this system." Plus, if Chekhov really did remember Khan then he should have known well enough to stay the hell away.

That always bugged the hell outta me! Still a great movie though!

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. The infamous female ghost performing oral sex dream scene from the original Ghostbusters movie. The scene is really out of place in the movie, in every way imaginable. It's placement within the movie doesn't make sense, the joke doesn't fit into the rest of the movie's comedic tone, it stops the movie from being family friendly, it adds nothing to the plot or the characters, etc. Frankly, it feels like something they filmed as a extra scene just for fun and it was never meant to make the official final cut of the movie.
