Pathetic examples of Internet and World censorship (Rant)

Just though I'd start this thread for people to blow off steam.

Bare in mind that this is NOT in any a way meant to be a thread for ranting against Admin, This is for ranting against the system that Admin is forced to abide by to keep our advertisers from dropping us. This is most especially a thread for ranting against the whole conservative world view that still TO THIS DAY seems to have little problem with violence yet gets so hung up on any kind of sexuality. The people that constantly rage against pornagraphy general as an immoral thing (though most of them probably watch just as much as any of us do in secret) instead of instead of trying legitiize it more and fix the rampant misogyny that plagues the induststry. The same can be said for prostitution (the world's oldest profession). Don't even get me started about the War on Drugs!

Here's a recent example. Instagram's automated security system banned a woman's account because one of the pics of a cake she posted looked a little too much like a nipple.

This forum does suffer from having to appeal to outsiders. It's like an impossible balancing act to maintain a forum devoted to sexual fetishism, yet we can't post anything too sexy or even write the word "fet-ish" (unless I cheat like that right there). I get it, we're trying to get advertisement money, but I feel we're also handicapping ourselves over what can and cannot be posted.

Instagram has Autobots working for them to detect nipples and ban accounts? News to me. :P

I believe in better segregation between what's clearly deemed pornographic content designed to appeal to our primitive states and content that caters to a mature audience.

There are way too many variables to distinguish which content is right or wrong for our website. Thus, we do our best to evaluate content on a case-by-case basis.

As mentioned by TheStarTurtle, even large companies like Instagram have to put measures in place to protect their members, visitors, and content from abuse. On occasion, they will get things wrong and correct them. I stand by their policies because it cultivates a positive environment - same goes for us. It's because of Instagram's continued efforts to adopt and understand change, they're now the worlds biggest photo sharing community. Instagram has kept their options open, we've done the same and it's worked for us.

You'd be surprised to know most people who visit us & join simply enjoy following up on their favourite celebrities/ trends & TV entertainment.

To put things into a nutshell, all we're saying is there is a time and place for pornography and if that's what you're on this site for, keep on walking.

I wouldn't recommend circumventing the word censorship system (as this will result in a ban). We have censorship in place for a reason folks.

Members can choose to remove word censorship from their account settings:

Profile > Modify profile > Look and Layout > Check option "Leave words uncensored."

Admin has very specific goals for this forum; we're not the only belly forum on the internet, and this openness and desire to appeal to a larger audience is what sets us apart. Other belly fora have nudity and open discussion of sexual subjects; this one has different aims.

I do agree though that the acceptance of violence in the media versus the lack of acceptance of sex is utterly ridiculous.

I'm just saying that I'm sick and tired of porn and such being conderered so danm scandelous and shameful to the (hypocritical) masses all the time! If a movie is meant for adults and not kids then who cares if they wanna put more graphic sex it in as long as the actors are willing? At the very least we should have way more mainstream big budget poragraphic films. It's not like they won't make any money. Just look at the TV shows on channels like Starz and Skinemax... sorry... Cinemax. So many people are just too damn anal (pun intended) about nudity and sex while in public but in private...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. just about EVERYONE has at least a little bit of a perverted side to them deep down. If we could all just realize and accept that, we'd have a lot less problems in the world. We all need to stop being soooo hung up on sexuality. If a couple wants a non-monogamous relationship, let em. If a bunch of people want to go have a mass consentual orgy together, let em. If people wanna worship the beautiful belly buttons of women, let em. We need to stop judging and shaming each other over such stupid inconsequential things.

There are so many other things that are so much more worth spending time and energy getting upset about. Like Saudi Arabia crucifying people for being gay or atheist and stoning women to death for being raped (you know, the same kinda crap that ISIS is doing except that the Saudis have been doing it for way longer) yet the U.S. AND U.K. consider them an ally thanks to their vast quantities of oil. Or, speaking of fossil fules, how about the fact that so many by into the Establishment propaganda that climate change ISN'T real?! THOSE are the things that are worth getting angry over! THOSE are the people who should be judged and shamed!

In my humble opinion, it should be the parents, not the media, who should protect the sensitive eyes and ears of children. The parents should be fully aware of what their kids are watching or listening to, rather than complaining about what is being aired on TV or released in theaters after the fact. For example, the fact that Deadpool was going to be an R rated movie was heavily advertised, yet some parents still brought underage kids to see the movie. If parents are going to ignore all the warning signs, they shouldn't complain when they willing expose their kids to the horrors of adult entertainment.

Chances are, kids are going to be exposed to this stuff whether or not their parents are around, and regardless of what their parents tell them. Kids are inquisitive little beasts and, let's face it, there's always that one kid who has access to porn or 'adult' things that they will gleefully share with their friends. Plus, look at Youtube and how many videos show kids dropping f-bombs and other things you would expect from an adult, even things they don't understand. They say it because adults say it or because it makes them look cool or whatever. We live in a time when censorship is more or less a dying art, because no matter how much people try to censor things, there are a hundred ways to get around those attempts and a hundred more ways to be exposed to the stuff being censored in the first place.

I agree with Star. American society is too uptight and it's ridiculous. We're in 2016. TV shows and movies are becoming more open to things like sex, sexuality, violence, and language, and it's time we as a whole just got used to the fact. These things are always around us. They have always been around us. It's stupid.

What also really annoys me is how being unwittingly seen naked is just about equivalent to assault or rape for some people as far as trauma goes (see Erin Andrews' recent court drama and settlement). ::) Nudity should NOT be a big deal in this day and age. The more we get it out in the open, so to speak, the less likely incidents like what happened to her (and all those celebs whose phones got hacked) will occur since people would most likely be so desensitized to nudity at that point.

It's incredibly ridiculous how conservative the MPAA has gotten over the last 25 years. Movies that were rated G then would be PG now. Movies that were PG then would be PG-13 now. Movies that were PG-13 then would be R now. And the NC-17 rating did NOTHING to remove the stigma related to the previous X rating, since most U.S. theaters still refuse to screen movies with that rating. ::)

It's especially absurd when it's now perfectly permissible to say the latter 2 words *uncensored* on basic cable after 10pm ET. ::)

There's no global rule that governs or enforces any form of censorship. Not even large companies like Google can clearily distinguish what's "right" or "wrong" but the general rule of thumb is; if there's content you'd feel "uncomfortable" in sharing with either your kids or loved ones, it's best not to post it on public forums. :P

Ofc. there will be countries and individuals who'll blow things out of proportion! Take India for example, they now censor cigarettes from films and TV shows. ??? It made me laugh how stupid their perspective on this matter was. Reminded me of the Japanese censoring porn. Yeah, no idea behind this one, Japan. :P Indian TV shows also put "no animals were harmed in the making of this tv show" even if it's a 3D/ cartoon. ??? I have never seen anything so bizarre.

As a multi-cultural country, I believe it's up to us the 'content providers' to understand and address a social responsibility. Some religions for example do not want their children being brought up under western values. I know parents from different ethic backgrounds who very diligently shield their kids from harmful content; some even go as far as home schooling.

There's also another matter of the 'objectification of women'. Scarlett Johansson made the decision to "go under the knife" to get a breast reduction because of the unwanted attention from men.

Ironically enough, America and Britain are to blame for the censorship in Japan and India. After World War 2, American culture was introduced to Japan. It used to be that Japanese women would walk around topless during the summer, but we slut shamed them to the point it's now unheard of. The same with India being under British rule for so many years. Mind, this is the country that invented the karmasutra. But after all the Victorian Era slut shaming, there are now areas of the country where public displays of affection are considered indecent, such as the time where Richard Gere playfully hugged and kissed Shilpa Shetty during an AIDS awareness event. Just lol'd at "Tentacle Porn and Pixelated Wangs". xD It's astonishing to read that the Japanese began porn censorship to say they are a more civilized country. Seems like they acknowledge our wrongful ways but continue western traditions and if anyone blames them, they point the finger right back at us. xD
