TheStarTurtle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cvhtwwy3lY I know you'll likely disagree, but I prefer the altered version. Much like Blade Runner, there's a half dozen different versions of the movie, so love whichever one you want. Personally, I think it makes zero sense that Hayden Christensen should be the ghost of Anakin. Luke wouldn't recognize him, and why wouldn't Obi-Wan look like young Ewan McGregor? I think it was a crappy thing to do by taking away the original actor's only claim to fame. The updated music is better and I like the brief flash of Coruscant (the only time in the Original Trilogy we get to see it). Also love the brief acknowledgement of Luke ans Wedge's friendship (something the movies never really established) that was re-edited in. But yeah, to hell with Hayden Christensen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiM5zEEI_Jo
TheStarTurtle The Sam Rami Spider-Man Trilogy certainly had its flaws, but this was a pretty damn good ending for a movie!
ppfd Honestly, this is probably my least favorite ending to any Spielberg film (next to "Minority Report"). I found it overly sentimental and rather manipulative (a trip into which Spielberg has often fallen over the course of his career... though I applaud him for actually restraining himself quite well on "Bridge of Spies"... and "Munich" before that).

I personally think it worked for the time and I still tear up a bit when I watch it. I do however also think that NOW in days an ending like that would be a little overkill. Just my opinion.
MikeBrooklyn In my humble opinion, the single greatest twist ending in the history of cinema. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktqNNsVJhUE
TheStarTurtle Jaws… nuff said! One of the most iconically shocking and depressing endings in the history of Cinema! I was a little too young when I watched this movie for the first time and it messed me up a little! Sorry for the horrid Italian dub!
