I totally get what you're saying. And you know what the worst thing is? Whenever the DO in fact show their belly buttons it's no big deal at all to them and they get completely weirded out by guys like us! Some of em even think that it's just gross! >:(

Yup. The fact that they're a smidge away from showing off their private parts but keeping the belly button hidden makes me think they have something to hide, whether it's an outie or a scar near the belly button.

Also, with the girlfriends leaving over the navel fetishism, while, chalk that up to this fetish just being misunderstood. We have to remember, in the eyes of most people, the bellybutton is just a random hole or piece of flesh and nothing more. They don' find it sexy, so they think anything of it. But this covering the bellybutton with high waisted pants or underwear or bikini bottoms makes me believe that some are considering too sexy.

In the end, I still blame that stupid G4 report about our fetish being all about torture.

That G4 report happened ages ago and yes it's a real shame bl was at the forefront of that. It made us look like a right bunch of physcos. However, I don't think that's responsible for this fad though. After speaking to quite a few women, they think high-waisted pants are considered 'somewhat' fashionable and I believe this to be true. Whether or not we agree with the fashion world is another issue. :P They simply look old and let's face it, high-waisted pants are something that our grandparents would have worn. I say this fad will die off quick.

I think they're on their way out. I didn't see nearly as many high waisted pants this summer as I did last summer

Maybe by 2017 they'll be phased out. We can only hope.

I still think Taylor Swift is mostly to blame. Girls see her in her granny panties and think "Well, if Taylor Swifts wears them, and she's all beautiful, famous, and rich ... I should dress like her!". Many people joke that Taylor is "the world's youngest looking 75 year old". And yes, the fashion industry is to blame, since it is run mostly by women and gay men, who have no idea what heterosexual men want to see women wear. We most certainly don't want girls to be wearing something our grandmothers would normally wear.
