Yes, but by the time the first trailer is out multiple episodes from a series have usually already been completed allowing for more random action clips to be sprinkled in. Plus, both of those pilots look like they'll have plenty of action. The trailer for Valor just showed you the end twist of the first episode and the SEAL Team trailer showed you the final shot of their first episode. The Daredevil trailers did NOT do that nor did the recent Star Trek trailer by the look of it.
Again, Daredevil and Star Trek had their entire season filmed already. All these new series have are that one hour long pilot to work with.
There's still usually more than the pilot to work with by the time the first trailer is released. Maybe the networks only allow the the marketers (whom I know are separate from the actual people who made the show) to work with just the pilot. Still, I feel they could still work around the pilot endings.
And the thing is, it's not just that they give away twists from the first couple episodes. Trailers will inevitably do that from time to time. Again, it's that trailers for so many new shows these days literally feel like their summarizing the ENTIRE pilot like one of those "previously on ...". To the point where almost you feel like you could just skip the first episode completely and move on to #2. TV trailers did NOT used to do that. The Blacklist was the first example I personally remember because it was all over Youtube.
Look at the trailers for the last two seasons of 24. They might give some stuff away but they do NOT feel they're just recaps of the premieres.
