Yes, the book was entitled Along Route 18, the comic was entitled The Sentai of Menlo Park, and the short film was entitled The Superficial Friends. None of them had navel themes, but they all did have plenty of bare bellied attire. You can Google any of these titles and you might find links to them somewhere.

Well, I found one through Digital Webbing, which have a forum for help wanted ads. I was looking for someone who did pencils, inks, colors, and lettering, that way I didn't have to pay four individual artists. And it cost a pretty penny, like a few grand, but I had extra money from income tax returns. Basically, I would send him the script, he would draw up the pages, show them to me, I could say if they looked right, and then he could go on color them, add the captions, etc. But I haven't done anything like that since. I forget what his name was, Darren something.

I actually liked Angel better but Buffy still started it all. You ever read any of the comics? I've heard they're really good.

Don't get me wrong, Angel had great moments, too. It's easily the second greatest TV series ever, after Buffy. Like you said, Buffy started it all, and I just loved the various aspects of the show (the high school metaphors, the funny dialogue, the strong female characters, the group dynamics, etc.). Funny that you should mention the spin-off series, because we needed Hercules first before we had Xena, and frankly, Xena to this day is held as being more culturally relevant than Hercules ever was.

I have skimmed through the Buffy "Seasons" comics, but I think the characters and their stories work best in filmed motion, not still art. However, I have read a comic book adaptation of the Buffy movie, which retconned said movie into the TV cannon. So that was a fun read.

I had a bad feeling about this. When it took this long to get the series going, that was a bad sign. I mean, we had two seasons of Daredevil before we had one season of Iron Fist. As to why it's getting such bad reviews, that depends on who you ask. On the one hand, you have haters who claim that Danny Rand is a "whitewashed", even though the character is also white in the comics, so this gives people lots of conflicted ideas of what counts as "whitewashed". And believe me, Netflix knows about this backlash, because in case you haven't noticed, all their marketing was shifted to focus on Colleen Wing instead.

Finn Jones isn't helping matters with his media interviews either. In one, he claimed "we didn't make this series for the critics". Yeah, ask how well it worked for Fant4stic and Suicide Squad when they played the "not made for critics" card. And then he claimed it was all Trump's fault, because people don't want to see a series that talks about rich white male privilege. Sorry, Finn, you can blame Trump for many things, but your series not being good isn't one of them. Outside of having a white male lead, the other big critique of the series is that it's too slowly paced and nothing happens most of the time. That's not Trump's fault, that's the fault of the showrunner, who I hear is the same guy who is blamed for ruining the final seasons of Dexter.

Well, you are going to have to watch it eventually, if you want to get the full scope of The Defenders. It's a really great show, especially David Tennant's take on the Purple Man. But if you still need convincing, yes, there is a lesbian relationship, it's with the supporting characters.

Just finished Iron Fist. Yeah, it truly earned that 16% at Rotten Tomatoes. The acting was good, but the character arcs and storylines from episode to episode were all over the place! It was like the writers thought "Meh, we just need 13 episodes, it doesn't matter what happens in them, so long as we reach our quota and call it a day."
