Huh? ??? No. "The Force Awakens" was glorified fanfic; somewhat fictionalizing actual events is a means of giving said events more of a genuine storytelling structure. As has been noted by some, the universe is a lousy dramatist -- it doesn't always build tension or emotional investment well, doesn't dwell on important details as often as it perhaps should, and, perhaps worst of all, it NEVER edits itself. :P I, for one, can't imagine a world without "Lawrence of Arabia."
At the very least, you could tell what was happening in Force Awakens because the camera wasn't shaking everywhere like the cameraman was on his fifth energy drink of the day. Likewise, their main female character was treated with respect, rather than a piece of meat for the male main character to drool over the entire time. And no jokes about humans being "lubricated" or being "under the enemy's scrotum". Yeah, if you think Episode 7 is the worst that science fiction has to offer, you haven't seen anything yet with the "Bayformers".
But yeah, as you pointed out in so many words, history is boring, and creativity will always be more interesting.
PS: No sooner are we talking about how conquerors are portrayed in history and entertainment, like what Epic Rap Battle posts!
