So it's the victim of another corporate pissing match, really.
There seems to be a lot of that going on these days in Hollywood. For those of you who don't know, 20th Century Fox Studios has the movie rights to X-Men and Fantastic Four, and they are refusing to give them back to Marvel, unlike how Sony is willing to share the movie rights to Spider-Man. To get back at Fox, Marvel canceled the F4 comic book series, and will have a sub-plot for the X-Men in which all the remaining mutants will be sent into outer space (that last part is a rumor, so far). Also, Marvel has been erasing F4 and X-Men characters from all merchandise and replacing them with characters from The Inhumans and the Netflix Defenders series. So yeah, lots of corporate pissing contests over who gets what percentage of the money.
