Navel Tattoos: Art or Annoyances?

Another belly art related question: the bellybutton tattoo. What are your thoughts on these? And I'm not talking about those ridiculous ones where the navel is an animal's rear end, I mean the general ones that happen to be more artistic, some even rather alluring.

I like them myself and would prefer one over a piercing, truth be told. There's a ton of different designs out there that are super cool, too, which is a definite bonus rather than something lame.

Your opinions?

I never understood the whole tattoo trend. I can't for that life of me understand why someone would want to spend hours with a needle permanently edging ink into their skin. The whole Suicide Girls thing is not a turn-on for me. It's bad enough when a girl has one tattoo, but when she's covered all over by them, eww!

That being said, I don't mind if a girl has a small tattoo around her bellybutton. It draws attention to the bellybutton, and unlike a navel ring, it doesn't block the actual bellybutton from view. But overall, I would prefer NO body art at all.

Personally, I've never understood it either, but I have to admit I do find (certain) tattoos attractive. I suppose it's because I've always been attracted "edgier" girls with cool-colored hair and the like and tats can be attractive in my eyes. Would I want a girlfriend with tats? Maybe. It would depend on the tats themselves, truth be told.

But I certainly do agree with your viewpoint on the navel tattoo thing. I'd rather take none than anything whatsoever. ;)

I think the tattoos are cool. I even like the colored hair. It goes too far for me when there are too many piercings - specifically facial piercings and dermals.

I'd have to agree, too many facial piercings (or piercings in general) are a turn off. Earrings are fine and I don't mind a nose stud or an eyebrow ring, but anything beyond that is not my taste.

I'm not really interested in tattoos - a tattoo anywhere doesn't look good to me, and a tattoo on the belly is the worst.

lol @"ridiculous ones where the navel is an animal's rear end" - yeah, these kinds of tattoos are over the top. I don't like the thought of fingering monkeys rear for example, it's not a turn and if that turns you on - I am interested in hearing your side of the story.

Women with tattoos around their belly buttons be it a simple star or something more tribally, I think this is fine. It's still a turn on for me (not to mention a talking point to get underneath their shirts). I know girls with almost half their stomachs covered with tattoos, it looks beautiful.

In conclusion, with or without tattoos for me - it doesn't make a difference. I'll still be drooling.

Definitely agree with you, oheso. I mean, under normal circumstances, would I prefer a tat or ring, no, I wouldn't. But if it helps, then heck yeah.

I have to wonder who came up with the trend for ridiculous tattoos using the navel as animals' rear ends. Probably some drunk fat guy who thought he'd get a bunch of laughs or something. Or people who don't respect their navels whatsoever. That would be my guess.

I'm not a fan of tattoo unless they are colorful and not the token dark green or black ink. However, I've never seen a girl with a colorful bellybutton tattoo, at least not in public. So no, I don't have a favorite. The closest would be the butterfly tattoo that Drew Barrymore has under her bellybutton, but she hasn't shown it in decades.

No, not like that. I don't mind a tattoo around the bellybutton, but I don't like it when the bellybutton is part of the tattoo like it is in that picture. In fact, that picture makes it look infected.

I hate any and all tattoos on the belly, period, they make me sad, but a sparkly bellybutton ring makes me so happy.
