(Warning: This is a bit of a long post. Just lemme know if this needs to be broken up)
I know I'm going to make a lot of people mad here, but I don't really have any problems with the sequel trilogy. Yeah, Force Awakens is too similar to New Hope, but I'm cool with anybody loving or hating it.
(I know I'm gonna go be burned at the stake for this next part)
As for the Last Jedi, I loved it. Sure, the Canto Bight scene went on too long, and I know that people hated how it subverted expectations, but I guess part of me just likes being surprised by what happens. Granted, my views may be biased by loving Rian Johnson's work on Breaking Bad (even though I saw that after Star Wars)
Another thing about the movie, and I'm not trying to troll or anything, but I genuinely don't understand why people don't like Rose or Holdo (though I still hate how the more toxic parts of the fandom are targeting the actress that played Rose).
I will mention that I didn't really get into Star Wars until I was a bit older, and even then I wasn't a hardcore fan, even with the prequels being released when I was a kid, so I guess my POV is kinda different. I do know that whenever the topic of Star Wars comes up, one of my friends goes into detail about why he doesn't like the Sequel Trilogy, especially Last Jedi., and I have a bit of a hard time defending them besides (i guess i'm not good at debates). It really makes feel like I'm being beaten down for liking them. I guess my general opinion on the Sequel Trilogy is that I used to judge people for liking the prequels, but now that I like the sequel trilogy, I understand the things that prequel fans went through. I accept that people are gonna hate some Star Wars movies for their flaws and like others despite their flaws. I just hate that feeling that I'm horrible for liking a movie they hate.
As for the spinoff films, I get why people don't like them. Rogue One was boring, and I don't really know how to feel in terms of ethics about reviving dead celebrities like Peter Cushing. I know they were given permission by Cushing's family, but still. I flat out refuse to see Solo; no one can top Harrison Ford, and I think that some things like the Kessle Run are best left to the imagination. The thing that makes me mad most of all is the Special Editions and Lucasfilm's refusal to release the theatrical cuts. I'd be fine with them if the theatrical cuts were readily available (like with Apocalypse Now & Blade Runner), and as someone who values the preservation of film, I think that's the only thing that gets me mad like people who don't like the prequels.
With Rise of Skywalker, I think I may be done with the franchise after that, mainly because I've become more and more disgusted with how Disney's becoming a monopolistic monster, and I kinda wanna avoid giving them my money whenever possible.
