Keep in mind that they were private pictures that were never meant to be shared with everyone with internet access.
Still, I feel having such a strong reaction to this incident was playing right into the hackers' hands. If you're a hot female celebrity, there are always going to be people who are going to jerk off to you... even in pics where you're fully clothed. Downplaying the incident and pretending it's no big deal was the really only way to soften the blow... but, again, America's prudish roots just won't allow that to happen. :P
