Are there any real differences between the male navel and the female navel?

I wanted to create this subject because I've been curious. I'm talking about the bellybutton specifically. Not the stomach or the lower torso. Obviously those are different. To me a bellybutton is a bellybutton. I get turned on no matter what.

In my opinion, I think there is. I mean, I've looked at male navels and female navels before (hard not to notice), and I find female navels visually appealing and sexy. There's just something about them. Male navels? Not so much. They do nothing for me. They don't interest me. And in my eyes, they do look different. Not sure how to explain it myself, though. Someone else probably knows how. :P

It's been relatively straight forward me i.e: if you see a beautiful woman, 'the mind' automatically starts wondering about her midriff. In the last year or so, I have noticed a trend in myself of appreciating visuals of just female stomachs... without the face. It's been a huge leap for me. Usually, I would disregard any bellies without a face attached to them.

Technically, there is no difference. You may be able to tell subtle differences here and there but generally speaking, there is no "scientific evidence" which suggest male belly buttons are different to female ones. I believe however, that there are various forms of having a belly fetish; all though they may share a commonality, the internal "mechanics of arousal" will vary from person to person.

Nope. Gender has no effect on the bellybutton, it only effects everything else attached to said bellybutton. I just happen to prefer female bellybuttons because I prefer the female form. I'm sure there are plenty of men out there with attractive bellybuttons, but in the end, I prefer taco over sausage.

It's not just you. I am sure there are many people who are unaware. I always suspected they were the same (even though I prayed and hoped it wasn't true) but I never looked into the matter. I had to google to confirm my suspensions!

Well, as you know, I'm an outie bellybutton fan, and there are plenty of videos on YouTube of gay men with outies, but these videos do nothing to me, not because their outies are ugly, but because the male body does nothing for me. It's a mind over matter thing. You're not attracted to the male bellybutton because you're not attracted to males, period.

I think it does in terms of innies and outies. It seems that males are much more likely to have outies than women.

This is very easy to see among black people. Any black guy who is not overweight will have an outie but that isn't the case with black women.

While ethnicity might be a part of who has more outies, I don't think gender does. It's really about body fat, muscle tone, and proper care of the umbilical cord before it fell off. Like who knows, maybe if the cord is not properly clean with rubbing alcohol as it should be daily, as opposed to just leaving it be. Perhaps outies are just umbilical cords that were never tended to. That's a train of thought that doesn't get mentioned much.

I live in a predominantly black area and trust me when I say outies on guys are far more common.

Agreed. Outies are unusually common among bodybuilders. Since men tend to be more muscular in general it probably leads to more outies.

Men have testosterone, and as such, they will always be more athletic and muscular than women. However, I've flipped through my share of women's fitness magazines (the models always wear sports bras or bikinis in them) and it's rare for those women to have deep, bottomless pit innies. 99% of the time they have shallow innies, inbetweenies, or outies. And if they have given birth before whipping themselves into shape, they have the Kelly Ripa style outie that completely sticks out of the stomach.

I consider a vertical slit shaped navel to be extremely feminine. I don't think i've ever seen a man with one.

Very true. In fact, I saw a cute Latina in a cropped top today and she had a vertical slit like innie. Of course, I tend to not bother to look at guy's bellybuttons.

In regard of the thread's subject: I have always looked at my own navel as rather "feminine", don't know if it is a personal fantasy or an objective statement (my navel can be wieved on flickr: eumolpio). . .

It's a statement that gets thrown around a lot, ask mystery15, who was the first to tell me about it. The argument that black (African) people have more outies is another statement that is made a lot.
